Libraries have witnessed a prominent transition from print to electronic resources that have not only impacted their services, but users too. Inflow of resources in electronic format and subscription of e-books, e-journals, e-databases and others have totally changed the library operations. E-Resources are important component of the collection building process of the library that is accessed through computers or mobile devices either remotely or locally. Some of the frequently used e-resources in the libraries are e-journals, e-books, e-database such as full text, citation and abstracting, reference, images, audio-video materials, etc. Some other examples of e-resources include, but are not limited to, web and online databases, whether free or fee-based. Libraries are always committed to preserve their e-resources to ensure permanent access to them by the users to support research and academic activities of an institute.

In this age of rapidly changing technologies, it is essential for all library professionals to keep abreast of the latest developments, emerging trends & techniques in the area of Electronic Resource Management (ERM) in libraries. Certain issues and challenges faced in these areas need to be taken care of with proper solutions.

About the Author

Bhojaraju Gunjal is currently working as Deputy Librarian at Biju Patnaik Central Library, National Institute of Technology, Rourkela with over 16 years of experience in deep understanding of social media, mobile technologies and emerging technologies. He did his Ph.D in Library and Information Science from University of Mysore and is also a recipient of Endeavour Research Fellow from Australian Government. He has published and presented technical papers in the field of knowledge management, library and information science in many national and international conferences, books, journals and also attended various professional training programs.                 Dibya Kishor Pradhan is presently working as Assistant Librarian, National Institute of Technology Rourkela and has been in the profession since 2004. He holds  Master Degree (MLISc) and M. Phil in Library and Information Science from P.G. Department of Library & Information Science, Sambalpur University. He is presently perusing his Ph.D. His interest and research areas are electronic resource management; open access; institutional repository; knowledge management; digital libraries and citation analysis. He has published scholarly articles & reviews in both national and international publications.

                Vinod Kumar Mishra has rich practical experience in almost all domains of library and information science having worked in reputed institutes like IIT Kanpur and Roorkee, ISRO and is at present working in NIT Rourkela. He has many publications to his credit. He has automated and digitized many libraries and has rich experience on open source solutions for libraries.                 D.P. Tripathi is presently working as Assistant Librarian and in-charge of Digital Resource Center and Reference Services sections at BPCL and is responsible for promoting user focused services and maintenance of library website and digital repository platforms along with different training and user education program related to library services, resources and planned initiatives.

                Puspita Mishra is working as Assistant Librarian and in-charge ofAcquisition and technical sections at BPCL. She is responsible for acquisition/technical processing, conducting book fairs/Exhibitions. She also manages the collections related to book bank and NITR Publications.

                Kshirod Das is currently working as a Senior Technical Assistant in the Biju Patnaik Central Library of National Institute of Technology Rourkela. He has B. Com, MLIS, and DCA degrees. He has qualified UGC-NET (for lectureship) and has recently registered for Ph.D. in library & information science. He has over 12 years of professional experience and has published over five articles in national and international conferences.
